On Saturday, October 21st, at South Bend Raceway Park the kart entered by CMS/Target
Distributing led the field by completing an amazing 625 laps on the .5-mile
layout over the entire 9 hr. test (shortened by 1 hr. due to darkness).
The kart was piloted by Dan Craze, Tom Craze, Zack Esders, Chris Anthony, Norm
De Boever and Brian Jacobson.
Coyote provided a brand new Wide Track LE kart for the event,
which was fitted with CMS Bodywork and Bridgestone YBH tires,
provided by Grand Products. Premier Motorsports
supplied their new Stinger clutch & Ultra Light sprocket hub
along with sprocket guards, sprockets and both front and rear wheel hubs.
Power was from a Smith Bros. 5 hp Briggs motor using EK Silver
Pro #35 space chain to drive the rear wheels. Hubs and the rear axle were
secured in place by new nylon 1- ¼" axle lock collars provided by Target
Distributing.
Amazingly throughout the entire 9 hr. event, which covered an astonishing
312.5 miles the CMS/Target Distributing entry suffered no mechanical
failures of any kind! In fact, the entire event was run using the original
tires, engine, clutch, chain and rear sprocket. The only maintenance performed
was changing/adding oil and lubing the chain approx. every 30 laps while
refueling. Lap times were consistent throughout the test, with a first lap of
approx. 43.3 seconds and lap number 600 was run at approx. 43.9 seconds. The
fastest lap of the day for the CMS/Target Distributing entry was on lap
339 with a time of 41.96 seconds. |
